Bits and Mortar giving away free PDFs

Like D&D Nexus, Bits and Mortar is a fairly new project that is still growing in size.Bits and Mortar

The members of Bits and Mortar are RPG publishers. These publishers have gathered together to try to find a way to support the local RPG stores (bricks and mortar stores) who stock their products.

The “Bits” in “Bits and Mortar” comes from the fact that the support comes in a digital form. The deal is this. Buy a physical copy of a book and they give you the PDF version of the same book for free.

The store has to sign up to the Bits and Mortar scheme for you to get a free PDF, and you can only get free PDFs of products made by one of the publishers that support the Bits of Mortar scheme, but if you are thinking of buying a RPG product, it is worth checking to see if you can get a bonus PDF thrown in.

Publishers supporting the Bits and Mortar scheme are:

Bits and Mortar are still looking for other publishers to join the scheme, so if you are a publisher and would like to take part, see their How Do I Join? page.

Retailers can also find out how to join the scheme on the same page.

D&D Nexus is also on Facebook

One of the primary aims of D&D Nexus is to connect various D&D based projects to D&D fans who might like them.

Facebook is one way that some D&D fans chose to communicate with other fans and share information about the things they are interested in. If you like D&D Nexus and you also like Facebook, you don’t have to choose between the two because D&D Nexus is on Facebook too.

So come to the D&D Nexus page at Facebook, “Like” us and then you can follow our updates and interact with other D&D fans on Facebook.

Super Genius Games to sell print versions of PDF products

Super Genius Games who publish material for Pathfinder RPG, Savage Worlds, Call of Cthulu and 4th Edition are about to start offering printed versions of products that were previously only sold as PDFs.

The first product will be Loot 4 Less: Things That Make You Go Boom, which is going to be a compilation of the first three Loot 4 Less PDFs. However, Owen Stephens from SGG is asking for help to work out where they should go with the line.

He has posted a thread on the Paizo forums and is asking for you to go over and let him know what your favourite SGG products are. There is also a press release about the survey at the Super Genius Games website.

Oh, and by the way, if you help Owen out, he says he will get you a free PDF.

Free RPG Day 2011 is on Saturday 18th June

Free RPG Day 2011

This year’s Free RPG Day is just nine days away now.

Free RPG Day 2011

In case you don’t know what it is, Free RPG Day is a day for you to go to your local participating store, play demo games and get some free stuff.

Not all stores join in, so check with the retailer locator to make sure you know where to find the closest place that is joining in.

Every store can do the Free RPG Day differently. Some may choose to run lots of games and some may just give away the demo games as freebies. It is totally up to the store how they run their own event.

All you have to do to get one of the freebies is turn up at your local store and ask. But make sure you get their early or the freebies you want may all be gone.

The Free RPG Day kit contains the following booklets:

There are also a few other items in the kit:

If a store is running a demo game, they will be giving a copy of the product away to the GM who will be running the game, so that will be one less available on the day.

Please also bear in mind that while these products are 100 percent free to you, the publishers have paid the full cost of printing them and the stores have paid the full cost of collating and shipping the Free RPG Day kits. So don’t forget to say thanks.
